Do cats really have 9 lives?

Well, today had me wondering.

A bit of background info...last year when we moved in our new house, our cat began "marking his territory" so we had to put him and his sister outside. They had always been inside cats so we felt really bad. My daughter started to take interest in them so we decided to give them a 2nd chance. We cleaned them up and let them back in the house. A few weeks later, the unmistakable smell came back-on furniture, in my daughter's room, NEXT to the liter box...anyhow, back outside they went.

So today my husband, Carlos, came home from work and asked if I had seen Jackson at all this morning; I hadn't. Carlos said that he was sure that he saw Jackson on the road at the entrance to our subdivision- it was a big, gray, fluffy cat. It had to be him. I immediately began crying. Not only did we rescue the 2 cats together about 5 years ago, but I felt this huge pain of guilt for making them go back outside. (It was me pushing the idea that they needed to go back out) I cried and cried and cried. Carlos left with a shovel and came back shortly after removing the cat from the road and giving him a proper burial. I felt just awful that Carlos had to do this- I think he liked Jackson more than me.

Not 10 minutes later as I was feeding Charlie lunch and Carlos sat down on the couch to watch Sports Center, JACKSON walked up to the backdoor meowing for food! WHAT THE HECK! As happy as I was to see that he was alive, I wanted to strangle him! So my cat is okay. And my sweet husband gave someone else's big, fat, gray cat a proper burial.

So, Jackson, you still have 9 more to go! You little booger!

Walking for Breast Cancer Awareness

Last weekend my daughter, husband and myself join our friends in the walk for Breast Cancer Awareness. The walk took us over the Halifax River and onto beach side. It was a great day and lots of fun, and most importantly, for an awesome cause. Both of my grandmother's are survivors so it's very important to me.

We have also recently met a new friend & neighbor, Mendi. Not only is she a mother of two, alot of fun & gorgeous, but she is a breast cancer survivor of 4 years. We were supporting her for this event. Congratulations Mendi- we admire you! (that's her in the pink)

I've done a few individual sessions with Jen in the past ("Why so sad?" and on the Railroad tracks- see them on my website). She contacted me and really wanted to do a session with her son, Randy. These two are so funny together- they love to be silly, dance and make crazy faces at each other. I'm still working on the rest of the editing but so far I loved these photos.

Pet Photos donations to the Halifax Humane Society

From November 1st to December 1st, HALF of all session fees for Pet Only sessions will be donated to the Halifax Humane Society. That's a $25.00 donation in your name. This special session will also include one 5x7 of your choice. Please contact me to book your session and make a difference in the life of cat or dog.

I have a few fun Halloween sessions coming up but wanted to share this one of Charlie. She was a little too big to get in this pumpkin but be on the lookout for more babies in pumpkins! Have a happy and safe Halloween!

Marisa & baby Anderson

My friend Marisa came to visit from Georgia this week with her precious little 2 month old baby boy, Anderson. It was a raining and overcast day at the beach but we made the most of it. Marisa is a beach girl and really wanted to introduce Anderson to the beach too. We also did a beautiful studio session but I've been so busy that I haven't even began editing those photos yet.
I also am trying out a few new and different editing techniques....let me know your opinions.

Kristi & Tim's Wedding

YIPPEE! My long time friend, Kristi, finally tied the knot this weekend. I was there as a guest not the photographer but can never turn down a great photo opportunity. The wedding & reception was at the breath-takingly gorgeous Sundy House in Delray Beach. If you are looking for a venue for a wedding, shower or any event in South Florida, be sure to take a look at this place. It was the most beautiful venue I have ever seen. And we had a great time too. Congrats to Tim & Kristi!!

Last weekend I had a wedding in Jacksonville. Donnie, my best friend's little brother, married his beautiful bride in an outdoor ceremony. It was an amazing day! Stunning bride

A few pictures from my most recent photo session. A sweet little 2 yr old boy named DeJohn. He was so full of energy and just wanted to jump right into the intercoastal if his parent would have let him. His mom, Jalaya, does my hair and she is super cool.

Well...I'm finally a blogger now

I've joined the rest of the world & I have now have a blog for my photography. It will be fun! Another way to showcase some of my photos, talk about what I've been up and meet new people. I look forward to showing my photos and getting feedback & comments as well. For now, I've just got to figure it all out! (a heading, posting slideshows & pictures, etc!) Wish me luck!
