A sad & scary week

This week my family has been hit with bad news from everywhere! I'm not one to share too much in my blog but we really need all the thoughts & prayers we can get. A few days ago my father-in-law told us that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. We were grateful for his recent trip to visit & Charlie just adores him but a little gray cloud was lingering over us. The doctor says that it's in the very early stages and should be a simple procedure. Nevertheless, we are terrified and really hope that is the case. Ron, my husband's dad, is 64 and the most healthy person I know. He still runs everyday, doesn't drink or smoke, eats very healthy- things that he has been doing all of his life. Such an admirable man & we love him dearly.
And as if that isn't hard enough, today my mom called me to tell me that my 27 year old brother, Mark, just found out that he too has cancer. WHAT??!!! He was scheduled to have surgery in 3 weeks but just yesterday his Dr. notified him that it could not wait & they are now having his surgery TODAY. It's just all too overwhelming...I can't even comprehend it all right now. Again, we hope for the best case scenario, that's all we can do. Hopefully the Dr can go in there and remove it and we never have to hear the word 'cancer' again. Mark lives in Virginia; all of our family is hours away so he will be alone today for his surgery. It's so frustrating and I don't know how my mom is able to keep it together.
I will keep everyone updated on my family; in the meantime please think of us, pray for us & hope for the best for Ron & Mark. They are both so special and we love them. And we need them.

Oh my SWEETNESS!!

I couldn't WAKE...I mean, WAIT, to share this photo. I'm totally not one to brag but DANG!
I am in LOVE with this picture of Wake! Love love love! I took pictures for my friends Christy & Shawn yesterday and she suggested this pose. It's a little different but that's what I like about it. I love how you can see his little feet in the background and how small his head is in his daddy's hands. Little Wake Riley is just one week old and as sweet (and as hairy) as could be. LOL.
I have a ton more to edit so I will make another post here soon. I'm off to a wedding this afternoon too so wish me luck. Have a great weekend. I hope this photo melts your heart like it melts mine.

Something Different & Fun

I think this was Jen's 5th session with me and we wanted to have a little fun. Not that we haven't before. The great thing about Jen, other than her being 6 feet tall, is that she is always up for anything. This week we had an adventure for her session- we trespassed, we thought she sat in poison ivy and all the crazies on the fishing pier under the Dunlawton Bridge were staring at us. Well...staring at her at at least:).
I used some different editing techniques so some are a little funkier than my usuals. Whatcha think?

J. Coleman Designs

A few weeks ago I met Jess to take some photos of her jewelry line in St. Augustine (I recently posted Jess's Sassy Session). The day could not have been any more BEAUTIFUL- I snapped a few pictures by the fort while waiting for Jess to arrive. He jewelry is fun, cute and affordable. You can see more about J.Coleman Designs on her website www.myspace.com/jcolemandesigns.
She's evening thinking about making a children's line which I think is totally fabulous! Stop by her website & check out her work.

This was my first product/marketing (whatever it's called) photo session. She wanted more than just photos of her jewelry but of her wearing her jewelry...something a little more creative. Whatcha think?

Wake's Arrival

As long as I have know my very best friend Christy, she had always ALWAYS wanted a baby. Yesterday her dreams came true as she and her husband Shawn welcomed their little 8lb 8oz baby boy, Wake Riley into their family. I was there for the birth, and when I say "birth", I mean that I was in the room when he was born- holding Christy's leg as she pushed. What an amazing experience. It was an honor to be part of such a special day in their lives.
It took me back to when I was in the hospital having my Charlie. At the last minute I had to have a c-section but I wanted so much to have a natural birth. Either way, I had my sweet, healthy baby. But there was a moment last night when it looked like Christy was going to have a c-section too; she also preferred a natural birth. But when Wake was ready, he was ready! I think she only actually pushed for 35 minutes and we welcomed Wake at 10:05pm last night.
I'm so happy for Christy and Shawn who continue to live their fairytale. I love them dearly...all three of them. I will be going back to Jacksonville to take newborn pictures of Wake on Wednesday so be on the look out for those later in the week. Oh I love that little man already- so much love!

Only minutes after being born...how sweet
Me & Wake

Oh, they were so happy!

Just look at that little lip!

Finally...The Radwick Family

Our great friends Dan, Shannon & little Presley have been wanting to do a family session for...well, forever! Not really, but for a few months now. Either it was rainy, too windy, too cold or someone was sick on the days we scheduled. Shannon's mom came down to visit from Tennessee last week so it was the perfect time to pick a date and stick to it. I have to say it was extremely windy on the beach down by the jetty where we met but we made the most of it and then moved on to a much calmer area. Here are a few of my favs from the Radwick Family session.

I love how the light falls on Presley, like she's an angel.
(well, she is!)
